President Donald Trump said in the Oval Office on Tuesday that Jewish Americans who vote for the Democratic party “show either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty.”
Trump was responding to a recent press conference by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who were recently barred from visiting Israel. Tlaib was subsequently given permission to visit her grandmother in Palestine, but declined.
The president said he “didn’t buy” Tlaib’s tearful press conference.
“Five years ago, the concept of even talking about this, even three years ago, of cutting off aid to Israel because of two people that hate Israel and hate Jewish people,” Trump said. “I can’t believe we’re even having this conversation. Where has the Democratic Party gone?”
🔦 According to the Pew Research Center, 79% of Jewish Americans voted Democrat in the 2018 midterm elections.
