President Trump cautioned social media companies Wednesday that they must stop blocking "conservatives [sic] voices" otherwise they may face regulation or be shut down.

"We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen," he wrote on Twitter Wednesday morning.

"We saw what they attempted to do, and failed, in 2016," one tweet read. "We can't let a more sophisticated version of that happen again."

The tweet ended with a direct call to social media platforms to "Clean up your act, NOW!!!!"

🔦 Trump's warning comes the day after social media giant Twitter marked one of the president's Tuesday tweets about mail-in ballots with a label that read "Get the facts about mail-in ballots."
