President Trump announced Friday morning that troops from the National Guard have arrived on the scene in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to help local law enforcement control the riots taking place in response to the death of George Floyd.

Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz activated the National Guard Thursday night after protests descended into violent riots and looting.

The president urged residents of Minneapolis to honor Floyd's memory, assuring them that his death will not be in vain.
