Televangelist and prosperity gospel preacher Paula White, the personal pastor to Donald Trump, has joined the Trump administration in an official capacity.

White, who Trump has known since 2002, will be an adviser for the administration’s Faith and Opportunity Initiative, which is aimed at giving religious groups more voice in government programs dealing with issues like religious liberty and fighting poverty.

White, who is known for her prosperity gospel messages, spoke admiringly of Trump’s intellect in a recent interview with the New York Post.

“He’s in total control,” she told The Post. “He’s not at all impulsive — he’s so far ahead of everyone, very much a strategic thinker.”

? As he campaigns for a second term, Trump will need to continue to appeal to the religious conservatives who voted for him in 2016. Paula White is a controversial figure, even with evangelicalism, as many consider her brand of prosperity theology to be outside of Christian orthodoxy.
