Two federal prison employees who were on duty the night Jeffery Epstein allegedly killed himself are expected to be charged Tuesday due to failure to check on Epstein as they were duty-bound to do.

The workers, who were responsible for checking on Epstein every half-hour in his high-security unit, instead slept for hours and falsified records to cover it up, according to officials with knowledge of the matter.

Epstein was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges.

The workers are expected to appear in the United States District Court in Manhattan.
