Filmmaker Tyler Perry gave shoppers a wonderful surprise on Wednesday by paying for every grocery bill of elderly shoppers at dozens of stores in Atlanta and New Orleans.

Many grocery stores have instituted special shopping hours so that at-risk customers can shop in a safer environment. Perry arranged to pay for the bills of all the shoppers present during those time slots at more than 40 Krogers and 29 Winn Dixie stores in Georgia and Louisiana.

The filmmaker also recently tipped $21,000 at an Atlanta restaurant while picking up takeout.
