The United States collected a record-setting $7 billion in tariffs during September.

The tariffs were imposed by the Trump administration as part of its acrimonious trade war with China. Consumer goods such as tools, clothing, and electronics were all subject to increased taxes.

The White House has been imposing tariffs on global aluminum and steel imports since March of 2018, and it began taxing Chinese imports in July of 2018. Last year. the U.S. imported half a trillion dollars’ worth of goods from China.
