U.S. economy added 128,000 jobs in October, easily beating expectations despite GM strike

The U.S. economy added 128,000 jobs in October, well above the 76,000 economists expected, despite the General Motors strike.

The unemployment rate ticked 0.1% higher, to 3.6%, still near historical lows.

Along with the surprise October beat, previous months’ job growth numbers were revised considerably higher. August's 168,000 number was revised up to 219,000, and September's jumped from 136,000 to 180,000.
