An Uber driver in Atlanta got a welcome surprise when one of her passengers paid off her student debt, allowing her to return to school and continue pursuing her education.

The driver, Latonya Young, had an outstanding bill on her college account that was preventing her from returning to school. She mentioned that predicament to a passenger she picked up outside of the Atlanta Falcons stadium. He later called the school and paid off the $700 hold on her account.

The passenger, Kevin Esch, attended her graduation several weeks ago. Young said she kept her grades up in honor of Esch's generosity.

Having received an associate's degree in criminal justice, Young said she will now pursue a bachelor's.

"This one changed my life. That one ride," Young said.
