The World Health Organization announced a new record for daily total coronavirus cases, with more than 350,000 cases reported to the health agency on Friday.
The record 350,766 cases outpaces earlier records by nearly 12,000. Friday's number includes more than 109,000 cases from Europe alone.
"The majority of people in the world are still susceptible to this disease," said WHO emergencies chief Dr. Michael Ryan, adding that "there are no new answers" as cases spike around the world.
He also said that a return to lockdowns may be "unavoidable."
