As volunteer firefighter Jason Fields sifted through the remains of homes demolished by a tornado on Monday night in Town Creek, Alabama, he stumbled upon an unscathed Bible open to the New Testament book of Acts.

He told local reporters that he had "been on several storm responses, but never experienced anything like finding the Bible." He said the discovery "sent a chill down my spine."

He posted a picture and description on Facebook approximately 24 hours after his discovery.

Although Fields said he was hesitant to post the picture at first, he "felt it could offer encouragement to others."
