U.S. now has highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in world

The United States now has the most confirmed coronavirus cases in the world — 81,321 according to the New York Times and 81,996 according to Worldometers — as the virus continues to spread and tests become more available to diagnose those who had already contracted COVID-19.

America has overtaken China and Italy in number of infected citizens, according to data released by the countries.

At publishing time, the U.S. ranks sixth in total deaths from the disease, behind Italy, Spain, China, Iran, and France.

🔦 Experts predict that the number of infected people in America will not peak until sometime in the next two to four weeks.
