The United States has passed China in the number of recorded coronavirus deaths, a sign that the disease is ramping up in parts of the country as it appears to taper off elsewhere.
Worldometers indicated on Tuesday afternoon that the United States had more than 3,500 coronavirus deaths compared to China's roughly 3,300. China has reported significantly slowed growth of the disease and deaths in recent days.
🔦 It is not clear if China's numbers are accurate. The Chinese Communist government is known for being secretive and paranoid when it comes to national data and statistics. U.K. intelligence has estimated the true toll might be as much as 40 times higher than Beijing's official count.
