People dying from the coronavirus are an average of 80 years old, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said at a Monday press briefing at the White House.
"People over the age of 60 are much more likely to develop complications from the coronavirus and to be hospitalized," Adams said.
He also noted that young adults and minors face higher risk of death if they acquire influenza than if they get coronavirus, although they should still take precautions to avoid spreading the coronavirus to more vulnerable people in their communities.
