Americans got a surprise yesterday when it was revealed that the United States Department of Agriculture listed Wakanda, the fictional African nation from the "Black Panther" film series, as a trading partner.
Tech designer Francis Tseng first publicly noted the entry yesterday, posting a snapshot of the USDA's "Tariff Tracker" website with Wakanda listed as a "[free trade agreement] partner."
The USDA later clarified that the Wakanda option was left over from a test file of the system. The fictional country was removed shortly after Tseng's clip went viral.
