Vanessa Bryant has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the company that owned and operated the helicopter that crashed, killing her husband Kobe Bryant, their daughter Gianna, and seven others on January 26.
The lawsuit accuses the company, Island Express, of engaging in unnecessarily risky transportation given the foggy conditions on the day of the crash.
According to TMZ:
The lawsuit claims the pilot failed to properly monitor and assess the weather prior to takeoff, failed to obtain proper weather data prior to the flight, failed to abort the flight when he knew of the cloudy condition, failed to maintain control of the helicopter and failed to avoid "natural obstacles" in the flight path.
The news comes on the same day that tens of thousands of mourners packed Staples Center for a memorial service dedicated to the late basketball superstar.
