After footage surfaced Monday of Mike Bloomberg demeaning farmers in 2016, Vice President Mike Pence tweeted an indirect reply to the Democratic candidate's remarks.
Pence's tweet reads "So God Made a Farmer" and includes a popular 2013 Super Bowl commercial featuring audio from a 1978 Paul Harvey speech praising farmers.
In the recording the vice president was responding to, Bloomberg tells an audience that "anybody" could be a farmer because it requires little "gray matter":
"I could teach anybody, even people in this room, no offense intended, to be a farmer. It's a process. You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn. You could learn that."
Later in the audio he describes today's "information economy" as different from past eras dominated by agriculture and industry because people have to learn "how to think and analyze."
"You have to have a different skillset," Bloomberg says. "You have to have a lot more gray matter."
