Robin Cooper, a security guard at Greece Athena High School in Rochester, New York, is being hailed a hero after saving a young man's life during lunch. Cooper was sitting talking with a group of students when a young man came running up to her unable to breathe.
Cooper immediately jumped up, positioned herself behind the boy, and began performing the Heimlich maneuver. She was able to dislodge part of the young man's peanut butter and jelly sandwich from his esophagus and he began breathing again normally.
School security director Steve Chatterton posted the video of the event on social media, with the permission of the boy's family.
Cooper was grateful she could help the boy.
"At first I was startled, and then I was like, 'Oh no he's choking, his face is red,' that training really helped it was on spot, I'm just thankful that I was in there in the right place in the right time to save that child's life," she said.
