A man had an angry exchange with Elizabeth Warren on Monday at a town hall event in Iowa, claiming that the Democratic Massachusetts senator's plan to forgive student loan debt would unfairly disadvantage him and others like him who saved to pay for their children's educations.
"My daughter is in school. I saved all my money," the man said after a photo line. "Am I gonna get my money back?"
After Warren told him, "of course not," the man accused her of intending to "pay for people who didn't save any money" while those who did save would "get screwed."
Warren appeared to briefly attempt to discuss her plan with the man but gave up when he accused the senator of "laughing at [him]." Warren ended the conversation by attempting to shake the man's hand. He replied, "nah, that's all right," and walked away from her.
