The White House is reportedly feeling out the GOP-controlled Senate to see whether Republicans are receptive to a new universal gun background check law.

The Trump Administration has been circulating a memo, called “Idea for New Unlicensed-Commercial-Sale Background Checks,” that proposes mandating background checks for any advertised gun sales, including firearms sold at gun shows.

🔦 Data have shown that the vast majority of mass shooters obtain their weapons legally, and that universal background checks would do little to prevent mass shootings.
