An Oregon woman is facing hate crime charges after she allegedly attacked a woman in front of her young daughter at a bus stop in Portland.

Nimo Jire Kalinle, 42, had just exited a bus when she allegedly began attacking Janae Jordan, hitting her in the face repeatedly. Jordan, who was with her husband and child, asked why Kalinle was hitting her.

"It's because you're white and I hate white people," Kalinle, who is black, told Jordan, according to an affidavit.

Kalinle was arrested and later indicted on multiple criminal counts, including first-degree bias crime, fourth degree assault, and interfering with public transportation. A bench warrant was issued after she failed to show for her February 5 arraignment. Kalinle was arrested on Sunday in a separate incident and was scheduled to be arraigned in both cases earlier this week.
