A British woman who identifies as a man recently lost a legal battle to be recognized as her baby’s father.
Freddy McConnell transitioned to present as a man several years ago, a status she held after becoming pregnant in 2017 and gave birth the next year. UK law requires people who give birth to be identified as mothers on the child’s birth certificate.
McConnell declared an intent to appeal the decision in a tweet. McConnell’s identifies on Twitter as a “dad who gave birth.”
