The largest hospital ship in the world is inbound to New York in an effort to help with the city's rapidly expanding coronavirus outbreak and prevent its medical system from becoming overwhelmed.
The ship, the USNS Comfort, will be used for non-coronavirus patients to free up hospital space in the city for those who do have coronavirus. It can hold around 1,000 patients.
? There are around 2,300 cases of coronavirus confirmed in New York, among the highest in the country. Gov. Andrew Cuomo expects that peak infection rates will hit the state in 45 days.
