The song "You Say" by Christian singer and songwriter Lauren Daigle has spent more than 100 weeks atop Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart, setting a new record.
"You Say" hit the 100-week mark on September 1. The song was released on Daigle's second album, "Look Up Child," which has gone platinum.
"You Say" has appealed to mainstream as well as Christian markets. Kelly Clarkson covered the song in a tribute to first responders and their work during the coronavirus pandemic. The shows "American Idol" and "Dancing with the Stars" also have featured the song, which Daigle composed and performed.
On Instagram, Daigle shared her response to the news of her hit song's record-breaking 100-week stint at the top.
"When I was a little girl, I would dream of moments like this," she wrote. "Upon hearing the news, I called my family. We laughed. We cried. We made jokes. We celebrated. I am so honored and want to thank all the people involved in achieving this accomplishment. My sincere gratitude goes out to them. To be a part of a song that has not only made history but has lived inside the homes of families raising babies, widows needing comfort, teenagers needing a friend, those who have lost and those who have gained, that is a gift I'll never fully put into words. Simply amazed that ‘You Say' has spent 100 weeks on @billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart! Thank you ALL!!"
